Walter Zhe Wang

Assistant Professor, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, China.

Research field: Smart Building; Advanced Building Control; Human-Building Interaction; Low-cost Built Environment Sensing.

Professor, Zhe Wang, work at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His current research is about the application of artificial intelligence in smart building and low carbon city, majorly from two aspects. First, he is looking at how to leverage advanced control techniques (e.g. Reinforcement Learning, Model Predictive Control, etc.) to enhance building performance and building-grid interaction. Second, he is interested in how machine learning techniques could help to inform decision making on buildings and cities. He is now serving as an Section Editor for Energy and Buildings, and Subject Editor for Building Simulation and Building Energy Conservation, as an Associate Editor for Frontiers in Built Environment, and is a Fellow of the George H. W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations.
